Prof. Munga is a distinguished Associate Professor and researcher at the Technical University of
Mombasa, with a PhD in Marine Sciences, an MSc in Ecological Marine Management, and a
BSc in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. He has over 15 years’ experience in marine ecology,
fisheries science, and socio-ecological research, publishing widely on coastal fisheries, estuarine
systems, and biodiversity conservation. Prof. Munga has led and collaborated on numerous
national and regional projects and serves as Chief Editor of the Multidisciplinary Journal of
Technical University of Mombasa. As an appointed member of TUM-SERC, he brings expertise
in research design, ethics, and environmental health. Recently, he secured a major grant for the
Estuarize 2.0 socio-ecological project, enhancing sustainable coastal research at TUM.
